What are speed bumps/humps, and what are their benefits?

Speed bumps (or speed breakers) are the common name for a family of traffic calming devices that use vertical deflection to slow motor-vehicle traffic in order to improve safety conditions.

What is sealcoating? Why do I need sealcoating?

Seal Coating is the process of applying a coal tar emulsion over an asphalt pavement to protect from the damaging effects of the environment, including moisture. It makes it look better and last longer.

When should asphalt sealcoating be applied?

It’s generally recommended to have sealcoating professionally applied every two years. However, sealcoating shouldn’t be applied immediately after paving. Ideally, you should let your newly paved parking lot, road, or driveway cure for a full year before sealcoating it.

How long after asphalt paving is completed can I drive on it?

The length of time you should avoid driving on asphalt varies based on the job and weather conditions, but in most cases no more than 24 hours. If the weather is especially hot, we may recommend 48 hours for proper curing.

Can it get too cold to perform asphalt paving?

In some parts of the world, the temperature can impact when asphalt paving can be performed, but the temperature is rarely an issue for A-Hole Paving. One of the main variables is the thickness of the asphalt is poured. The thinner the layer of asphalt, the more quickly it needs to be compacted because it will lose heat at a faster rate than a thicker layer of asphalt. Deeper asphalt pours can be performed in cooler temperatures than shallow asphalt paving.
